The Fourth edition of Aalam Deepam Duathlon will happen as a virtual event and all the proceeds would go towards supporting livelihood cyclists as part of "Humans of Cycling - Donate a bicycle" initiative. As part of Humans of Cycling, we provide free bicycles to bread winners across the city to enable them to commute to their workplace.
Event Categories -
Olympic (10 km running and 40 km cycling)
Sprint (5 km running and 20 km cycling)
Kids (2 km running and 10 km cycling) - Only team category
One can participate in individual or team relay categories. Team relay can involve men/women/mixed in which one person runs and the other person cycles to finish the distance. Register, Run, Ride to Donate bicycles for the Livelihood commuters. We request you to extend your philanthropist support.
The accounts from the event would be published transparently and all participants would get regular update about the usage of funds for the cause.
Duathlon Date - Virtual - Any day between 1st April 2023 to 9th April 2023 Duration - Both run and ride needs to be completed on the same day, in which Run needs to be attempted at first and followed by Cycling.

(5km running and 20km cycling) - INR 549 (Includes 18% GST)
Deepam Team Relay: Doubles (Olympic & Sprint)
(Team Relay events will have two people in one team. One person runs while other person rides and completes the distance)

The Registration fee is non-refundable. All registered participants would get a T-Shirt and finishers would receive a beautiful finisher medal.
Both tshirt and finisher medals would be shipped after the event is completed.

The event is self-timed. Recording in strava is mandatory and your strava account shall be linked to Chennai Cyclists website. Helmet is mandatory for the Cycling part. Riders and runners are responsible for their own safety.

About Previous Edition
Our First Edition of AALAM DEEPAM DUATHLON, which was held in February 2019, not only spread health and fitness but also gave shelter for good dining and Nalabhaagam (Cooking) at Home Of Hope, Pakkam with all Your generous support. With all efforts and Blessings, the building was inaugurated on 29th Sept 2019
Second Edition of AALAM DEEPAM DUATHLON, which was held in March 2020, was held in collaboration with Sevai Karangal. We raised funds through the event and constructed an activity centre at Kundalimedu, a remote village near Gumidipoondi. With all efforts and Blessings, the building was inaugurated in 2020 end.
Third Edition of AALAM DEEPAM DUATHLON, which was held in April 2022, was held to support the Humans of Cycling Initiative. We raised funds through the event and donated 100 bicycles to livelihood commuters across Chennai.
Why the duathlon?
AALAM DEEPAM CHENNAI DUATHLON is conducted as a fund raiser every year.
FAQ's:
- What's the registration fee?
- Rs. 549 for Individual and Rs. 1049 for Team Registration
- How much amount is contributed for the cause?
- Your entire registration amount goes fully towards the cause.
- Will the registration fee be refunded?
- The Registration fee is non-refundable as the event is conducted for a cause.
- Is the event timed with timing chips?
- Nope, the event has no timing chips. Just track your run and cycling through your strava tracking app to check if you have cracked your personal best.
- What's the sequence of duathlon?
- Running shall be done first followed by cycling
- I am good in running but never cycled before!!
- No worries, just tag up with your cycling friend and register for the team event in which one person runs and other person cycles.
Terms and Conditions -
- Helmet is mandatory
- Roads are not closed for traffic. Follow all the traffic rules at all points of time
- Riders are responsible for their own safety
- Rental cycles are available on first come first serve basis. Helmet will be provided for the rental cycles
INDEMNITY FORM
I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT BY ACCEPTING THIS DOCUMENT, I AM RELEASING "WE ARE CHENNAI CYCLING GROUP" AND THEIR RESPECTIVE AGENTS, EMPLOYEES, MEMBERS, SPONSORS, PROMOTERS AND AFFILIATES (COLLECTIVELY \"RELEASEES\") FROM LIABILITY. THIS ENTRY BLANK AND RELEASE IS A CONTRACT WITH LEGAL CONSEQUENCES. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO READ IT CAREFULLY BEFORE ACCEPTING.
In consideration of the Releases, I hereby freely agree to and make the following contractual representations and agreements. I acknowledge that cycling can be an inherently dangerous sport and fully realize the dangers of participating in a riding the bicycle on highways and FULLY ASSUME THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH SUCH PARTICIPATION INCLUDING, by way of example, and not limitation, the following: the dangers of collision with pedestrians, vehicles, other riders, and fixed or moving objects; the dangers arising from surface hazards, equipment failure, inadequate safety equipment, THE RELEASEES' OWN NEGLIGENCE, and weather conditions; and the possibility of serious physical and/or mental trauma or injury associated with riding a bike. For myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, assignees, and successors in interest (collectively \"Successors\") I HEREBY WAIVE, RELEASE, DISCHARGE, HOLD HARMLESS, AND PROMISE TO INDEMNIFY AND NOT TO SUE the Releases and the sponsors of this event, the organizer and any promoting organizations, property owners, law enforcement agencies, all public entities, special districts and properties, and their respective agents, officials, and employees through or by which the events will be held, (the foregoing are also collectively deemed to be Releasees), FROM ANY and all rights and CLAIMS INCLUDING CLAIMS ARISING FROM THE RELEASEES' OWN NEGLIGENCE, which I have or which may hereafter accrue to me and from any and all damages which may be sustained by me directly or indirectly in connection with, or arising out of, my participation in or association with the event, or travel to or return from the event.
I agree it is my sole responsibility to be familiar with the event course, the Release's rules, and any special regulations for the event. I understand and agree that situations may arise during the event which may be beyond the immediate control of the event officials or organizers, and I must continually ride/run so as to neither endanger myself nor others. I accept responsibility for the condition and adequacy of my competition equipment. I will compete wearing a helmet which satisfies the requirements of the Releases Racing Rules or Regulations and that can protect against serious head injury, and assume all responsibility and liability for the selection of such a helmet. I have no physical or medical condition which to my knowledge, would endanger myself or others if I participate in this event, or would interfere with my ability to participate in this event.
I agree, for myself and my successors, that the above representations are contractually binding, and are not mere recitals, and that should I or my successors assert my claim in contravention of this agreement, the asserting party shall be liable for the expenses (including legal fees) incurred by the other party or parties in defending, unless the other party or parties are finally adjudged liable on such claim for wilful and wanton negligence. This agreement may not be modified orally, and a waiver of any provision shall not be construed as a modification of any other provision herein or as consent to any subsequent waiver or modification.
Every term and provision of this agreement is intended to be severable. If any one or more of them is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that shall not affect the other terms and provisions, which shall remain binding and enforceable.
