National Organ Donation Day Ride

Chennai Cyclists and Kidney Health India have joined hands to have an awareness ride on 4th August 2024, to reach out and educate more people on the importance of organ donation and saving lives. We hope you will join us in this journey of saving more lives through organ donation.

Kidney Health India is an initiative envisioned by a consortium of doctors to cater to the varied needs of organ failure patients.

Creating awareness, free and affordable kidney and multiorgan transplants, financial assistance to underprivileged are some of the key components of this foundation.

Each year the requirement for kidney transplants alone is around 2 lakhs and only around 10000 patients undergo transplants. But > 90% of the transplants are from live family donors and brain-dead donations are very minimal

In India, the organ donation rate is too low 0.34 per million population. Even in Tamil Nadu the pioneers of transplants it is low at 1.8 per million population compared to Spain which has 36 donations per million population.

Despite India's growth in healthcare, we still are far behind in organ donation awareness.

The Registered volunteers will be provided with KHI Donor Card at the event

Event Date: 4th August 2024

Distance: The total ride distance is 25km

Start Point: Valluvar Gurukulam Higher Secondary School, GST Road, Tambaram, Chennai 600059

Route - Valluvar Gurukulam- Chromepet- Pallavaram Radial Ring Road- Dr.Kamakshi Memorial Hospital- U-Turn- Pallavaram Radial Ring Road- Chromepet- Valluvar Gurukulam Route map will be shared with all registrants shortly

Registration Fees: INR 250 inclusive of taxes. Rentals costs INR 300 extra.

All participants would receive the following -

• National Organ Donation Day Ride T Shirt
• CC's signature hospitality through a sumptuous breakfast and well thought out refreshments enroute
• All finishers will receive a special finisher medal along with a certificate

The ride is fully supported with mechanical and medical support.

I ACKNOWLEDGE THAT BY ACCEPTING THIS DOCUMENT, I AM RELEASING "WE ARE CHENNAI CYCLING GROUP" AND THEIR RESPECTIVE AGENTS, EMPLOYEES, MEMBERS, SPONSORS, PROMOTERS AND AFFILIATES (COLLECTIVELY \"RELEASEES\") FROM LIABILITY. THIS ENTRY BLANK AND RELEASE IS A CONTRACT WITH LEGAL CONSEQUENCES. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO READ IT CAREFULLY BEFORE ACCEPTING.

In consideration of the Releases, I hereby freely agree to and make the following contractual representations and agreements. I acknowledge that cycling can be an inherently dangerous sport and fully realize the dangers of participating in a riding the bicycle on highways and FULLY ASSUME THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH SUCH PARTICIPATION INCLUDING, by way of example, and not limitation, the following: the dangers of collision with pedestrians, vehicles, other riders, and fixed or moving objects; the dangers arising from surface hazards, equipment failure, inadequate safety equipment, THE RELEASEES' OWN NEGLIGENCE, and weather conditions; and the possibility of serious physical and/or mental trauma or injury associated with riding a bike.

For myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, legal representatives, assignees, and successors in interest (collectively \"Successors\") I HEREBY WAIVE, RELEASE, DISCHARGE, HOLD HARMLESS, AND PROMISE TO INDEMNIFY AND NOT TO SUE the Releases and the sponsors of this event, the organizer and any promoting organizations, property owners, law enforcement agencies, all public entities, special districts and properties, and their respective agents, officials, and employees through or by which the events will be held, (the foregoing are also collectively deemed to be Releasees), FROM ANY and all rights and CLAIMS INCLUDING CLAIMS ARISING FROM THE RELEASEES' OWN NEGLIGENCE, which I have or which may hereafter accrue to me and from any and all damages which may be sustained by me directly or indirectly in connection with, or arising out of, my participation in or association with the event, or travel to or return from the event.

I agree it is my sole responsibility to be familiar with the event course, the Release's rules, and any special regulations for the event. I understand and agree that situations may arise during the event which may be beyond the immediate control of the event officials or organizers, and I must continually ride/run so as to neither endanger myself nor others. I accept responsibility for the condition and adequacy of my competition equipment. I will compete wearing a helmet which satisfies the requirements of the Releases Racing Rules or Regulations and that can protect against serious head injury and assume all responsibility and liability for the selection of such a helmet. I have no physical or medical condition which to my knowledge, would endanger myself or others if I participate in this event, or would interfere with my ability to participate in this event.

I agree, for myself and my successors, that the above representations are contractually binding, and are not mere recitals, and that should I or my successors assert my claim in contravention of this agreement, the asserting party shall be liable for the expenses (including legal fees) incurred by the other party or parties in defending, unless the other party or parties are finally adjudged liable on such claim for willful and wanton negligence. This agreement may not be modified orally, and a waiver of any provision shall not be construed as a modification of any other provision herein or as consent to any subsequent waiver or modification.

Every term and provision of this agreement is intended to be severable. If any one or more of them is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that shall not affect the other terms and provisions, which shall remain binding and enforceable.
